help my street

Question
Hi,  I have a neighbor that has a tree that grows a cotton like substance. The tree is at least 20 ft tall. When there is a breeze out side the hole neighbor hood gets covered with what we all agreed was cotton. I have been looking on the Internet to find out if we can do something to prevent this tree covering the street, plant, grass etc. Can you help?

Answer
There is a substance that when srayed on the tree just prior to flowering will stop the seed from forming. Florel will reduce seed production (cotton). You will likely have to hire a professional arborist to do the job, but it may be worth it to keep from being buried in cotton every spring. Regional timing is important, hence the recommendation for the arborist, plus they have the necessary equipment to adequately cover the trees. Here is a web link to information on Florel
