Question
I have a 20-25 foot tall white crepe myrtle that sends a multitude of suckers up from around the base of the tree. I keep cutting them back with my week whacker, but they always return and usually even thicker than before. I live in West Central Texas and it's soil condition is usually fairly dry. Is there any way I can prevent the suckers. They're driving me crazy.

Cut or break them off do not use a weed whacker this is injure the trunk causing more suckers. Treat the cut with a product called sucker stopper.  Here is a link to more information on how to deal with the suckers.
