sick crepe myrtle

Question
I planted a 5' tall crepe myrtle last year and it flourished and bloomed beautifully.

This year it looks sickly. No blooms, no new growth and light green leaves with uneven coloring. Any advice?

thank you

Answer
Sounds like there may be a nutrient deficiency problem.  I would take a soil sample to your local county Extension Office and let them submit it for analysis.  You may also take some of the leaf tissue and get a tissue analysis performed as well.  These tests will determine what nutrient is deficient and then you can correct the situation.  Good Luck.
