Leader Broken off Young Coast Redwood

Question
Two years ago we planted our prized Aptos Blue Coast Redwood which is now about 10 feet tall.  Last week our neighbor's tree trimmer dropped a branch which broke about 6 inches off the top of our redwood's leader - with its 4 top sprouts ranging 4 to 6 inches each now gone.  The remaining section of leader has no discernible sprouts (maybe unbroken buds?) and extends 5 inches above the highest tree brances.  Will this tree grow straight & tall - or should it be replaced?

Answer
It will out grow the broken top since the tree is young. A side branch will over time become the new top terminal and you might see a slight bend in the top where the side branch became dominant. But in a few years you will not be able to tell the top was ever broken off. Leave the tree it will be ok and does not need replacing.
