dying or sick tree?

Question
I submitted this question a couple days ago but Im not sure it got submitted correctly? Anyway, I have a tree on our property that my husbands just loves. Not sure what kind. Aspen maybe? Anyway, there were LOTS of leaves all over it a couple years ago. Then last summer it started looking like it didn't have as many leaves. Then coming back this year, its definatly got bare spots. Thinking some of the branches are dead. Is there a way to save it? I live in OK which is very hot and dry right now. Im sure thats not helping it at all. THank you.

Answer
OK This is similar to someone emailing the doctor and saying something is wrong I am not looking good am I going to die??? Without more detail is is very difficult to diagnose a problem.

I think the main problem is stress from the dry conditions. I would water the tree with 1 inch of water --Place a pan under the tree and turn the sprinkler on and when the pan  has 1 inch   of water in it stop. Do this once a day for a couple of weeks and then every third day unless it rains good. IF you have not done so mulch around the tree with not more than 3 inches deep of organic mulch not piled up on the trunk. (pinestraw is good). This will help hold moisture around the roots.
