mock orange

Question
I have a beautiful large mock orange plant but in the last couple of days something has almost stripped it clean of it's leaves.  I thought maybe japanese beetles but I have not seen any this year and normally if they are eating a plant they are easy to spot.  Any ideas what might like mock orange plants?  Also, can a plant live with almost all it's leaves gone?  Thanks for your time.  Liz

Answer
Hi Liz
There are no pests that will strip a shrub that fast. the leaves will fall off if you have a frost or high winds. The shrub will grow new leaves in time as this is the begining of a new season you should not worry to much unless the weather conditions continue to hinder recovery.
Good Luck  Larry  ;-)
