Which roses can be pruned during Desember Jan and Feb. I live in London U.K

Hi Marjory-

Well - I live in Houston, but I've been told that London is sort of like the Pacific Northwest, and it rains a lot.  But, I believe you are in Zone 8.  Rose pruning is not an exact science because each year the temperatures fluctuate - so you might get an earlier or later than expected frost.   But keep in mind if you prune too early - new growth may sprout only to get frost damage, and if you wait too long to prune, you may end up pruning off new growth. So, in Zone 8 I believe you could prune anytime from December through February.  You would want to prune the hybrid teas, grandifloras, climbers, English roses,and florabundas during this time. Shrub roses I would prune last (February) because they are more hardy and may continue to bloom a bit through the winter.
