buxus microphylla japonica

Question
i have this type of plant, right now they're about 8" tall and still in their planters, when is a good time to transplant, should i take them out of their planters or just plant them in the ground planter and all, how far apart should i place them?i think i have about three different questions in there, sorry
thanks for your help
anita

Answer
Anita,

It is fine to plant them now, try to space them about 24 inches apart and they should be removed from their planters unless they are in the paper containers. Be sure to put a good 2 to 3 inches of mulch under the plants to protect the root systems from winter temperatures.

Good luck.
