Azaleas

Question
When is the best time to plant azaleas?  I live in Southeastern Tennessee.

Answer
i'm in southern NJ. climate zones 6-8. actually azaleas are broadleaf evergreens. spring & fall would be the best time to plant(mild temperatures). i have planted them in the summer & winter w/much success also. make sure you water them w/5 gallons of water per week(if no rainfall occurs w/in the week) the 1st year you plant them & during hot dry spells after that. apply a good evergreen fertilizer(i like hollytone by espoma) once in the spring and again in the fall. keep your eye out for lacebug damage and spray accordingly when necessary. check w/a local garden center/nursery for more info.
good luck
