transplanted crepe myrtle dying or in shock?

Question
4/25/07-As a New Yorker (living in MS now), I have always transplanted things constantly. Last fall, I transplanted a full grown Crepe Myrtle tree next to the others. All have leaves except the transplanted one. When scratching it or bending any twig or branch, they are greenish, moist, and flexible. Is it dying slowly..in shock..can I do something to stimulate it to live?

Answer
Fran,

The Crape Myrtle is probably in a weakened state from the transplanting. Sometimes it takes older tres longer to recover from transplanting.

I would recommend fertilizng it with a balanced fertilizer this spring to encourage growth and improve health,

Good luck,
Ed Gulliksen
