I recently planted two hydrenga shrubs. What is the best way to remove the dead heads?I live in Illinois. Also I have 2 very large lilacs that no longer bloom. What do you suggest?

As for the lilacs, they would benefit from a rejuvenation pruning in June. Choose a few of the oldest limbs to the ground to force new growth and new flowering.
