general lawn care

Question
my lawn was re-sodded 5 years ago, and we are quite disappointed in the way it looks today. what basic steps can be done to rejuvenate and get a good lawn growing, even if it takes a bit of time. there were grubs last year, and we were not consistent with fertilizer during the last couple of years. what are the goals in having a good lawn. does our region play a role.

Answer
Hi Peter;
An organic program does away with grubs because the critters, toads, lizards, grass snakes etc, that will come to live in your yard will eat them all, as well as the other insects you don't want there.
Since I switched to orgaincs, I just don't have bugs i don't want, including aphids on my roses.

What kind of grass did you sod in?

Is your lawn clay, sand, or a good loose well drained soil?

How dow you water, and how much each time?

Do you have a lot of sun or a lot of shade in your lawn?
Answer those questions for me, then I will know more how to help you.
