Rhodedendron

Question
Please can you tell me the best time of year to plant out a rhododendron from a container to the garden. It has grown too large for it's container.
thank you.

Answer
Hello Pat

You can plant container grown plants into the garden at any time of the year as long as the ground isn't frozen.

I don't know where abouts in the UK you are, but in view of the terrible weather we've been having this winter, I'd advise you to wait until the end of the month, by which time, hopefully, the ground will not only be well thawed but also warming up, which will encourage the Rhody to start digging it's roots into the open ground!
