black baccara?

Question
hello,

I've been looking into black roses, I'm aware that you cannot get a genuine black rose and that the darkest you can find is a deep red/maroon. I've red that a black baccare rose is considered to be the darkest. Would i be able to grow it indoors, or outside in Alberta?

thanks,

Answer
Black Baccara is what they call a tender rose which means that it won't survive below zone 6. You can grow roses in the house but they usally aren't happy as the atmosphere is far too dry for them. You would be able to plant it in a pot in the spring and then bring it in by late fall and store it in a place where it wouldn't freeze but also cold enough so it wouldn't grow. By the way, Black Baccara is a red rose that looks like it has dust on it. The flowers are small and the bush is tall.
Hope this helps. Lynnette
