black spot on nearly wild roses

Question
Hi Lynnette
I live in northernmost South Carolina.  I have sprayed my nearly wild roses several times over the past 2 weeks to get rid of black spot, but it won't go away.  One group of bushes have lost nearly all their leaves.  Is there a particular product i should use?  I'm currently using "Rose Pride."  Thanks, Todd

Answer
One of the problems might be that Nearly Wild is very prone to black spot if the conditions are right for the disease. Also some roses will re-act to a rose spray. Rugosas for instance will not tolerate any rose sprays and will drop all their leaves or at least the leaves will go yellow. Another reason is that the temperature was above 70' and roses will definitely re-act to a spray when it is too warm. Rose Pride is a good product and should solve your problem is the roses don't resent it.
