container planting

Question
Hi: I have had success with tree roses growing in large pots. Will I get good results with a climbing variety. My pots are 18" diameter and 15" deep.
Thanks for your response.
Lu

Answer
Those Roses won't last forever in 18 inch pots; a 24 inch pot would be better.  And what are you going to do when Winter falls?  Are these pots plastic? fiberglass? terra cotta? other?

In winter, if they're terra, paint inside with tar to keep them from breaking, then repot.

I see no reason your Climbers cannot grow in containers.  I just wish yours were bigger.  Thanks for writing.
