Rose Planting

Question
I am a first time planter of roses.  I bought a variety of hybrid tea roses and planted them on the sunny side of the house.

How many feet do you put between roses when planting?   I put 2 feet between plants.

Answer
Hi, Wayne--2 feet is good, especially if you are in the South.  Even if you're further north, it leaves plenty of space to attend to your roses--feeding, watering, etc.  I measure this from the "trunk" of one bush to that of the next--I guess you would call that 2-foot centers.

Visit the American Rose Society site at www.ars.org for more information.  There are lots of friendly folks on the rose forums at GardenWeb.com, and you can always reach me here!
