cutting grandiflora roses

Question
i am not sure how to cut my grandiflora roses when several blooms (opened) and buds(not open) are on the same stem...do you just cut the flower that is open (very short stem) I live in Durham, NC (close to Raleigh, NC)

Answer
The old advice that you had to cut way down the stem has been debunked and is no longer done. All you do is simply snap the dead  flower off with your fingers (or clippers if you want). Another tip is when a rose blooms with not one but many on a cane, if you take the middle bud off you will get better and bigger flowers from the others. The middle bud is usually the largest and therefore will take energy away from the others. It also will flower first and then die making the bunch look messy. Hope this helps.
