Yellowing Container Rose

Question
I planted a Grandma's Yellow in a container 18 inches wide and 18 inches deep about 3 or 4 weeks ago.  Before I planted it, it was bushy and full of buds.  A few days later several of those buds and a lot of the leaves dried up.  I removed them and the plant has flowered 2 beautiful blooms and the remaining buds look perky, but it's leaves are still turning yellow and browning. I water every 2 to 3 days and used Maricle Gro rose food once.  I am thinking of possibly planting it in the ground, will this kill it or should I just wait it out? How do I get it healthy looking again? Thanks!

Answer
Roses really hate to be disturbed or even moved and quite often they will re-act to the stress. If the rose was in a pot and you just put it into another container, then there shouldn't be any problems and the yellowing leaves will stop. However if the soil fell away from the roots when you were planting it, then it will take a longer time for the leaves to stop going yellow. This rose likes attention such as moist soil and monthly fertilizing. Miracle Gro is fine for it. In regards to planting it in the ground, all roses prefer growing in the ground but again, if the root ball won't stay around th roots, then I would leave it in the container. Be patient, the rose isn't going to die. Just make sure it gets water daily to keep the soil damp, especially if it is sunny and warm.
