RE: Climbing Rose Bush

Question
I am not a novice to horticulture, but I haven't grown roses before.  I purchased 2 climbing rose plants, 'white dawn' and 'paprika'.  I am thinking that I need to provide them some afternoon shade here in Phoenix with 110 degree summer weather.  Do you agree?

Answer
Rose hate to be moved and will probably die if they are moved when they are growing. If you have just planted them and they are still in the shape of the pot because they have a good root system so you could move them as a large lump, then have the new hole ready fill it up with water and then transplant when the sun has gone down. You will have to water water water for at least a week. Please bear in mind you are still taking a big gamble if they are putting out new growth. The ideal time would be when they are dormant in the late fall or early spring. Both are good climbers.
