rose leaf problem

Question
i have just started to grow climbing roses. I now find that the leaves have much bits out of the leaves.  One rose have new flowers ready to flower, what can I do to save this rose.  This is all new to me and the rest of the roses seem fine.  This one is nex to the herbacious border and I want it to grow up a trellis.
I have sprayed it will diluted fairy liquid, and think perhaps
there are a few wee white things on the buds, but none on the leaf.
Really look forward to you hering from you a new gardner at 56 yrs old.... kind regards  Patricia

Answer
As I don't know where you garden, I can only take a guess at what insects are damaging your roses. The tiny white bugs on the buds could be whiteflies. If you hit the buds and they fly off, then that is what it is. If there are many insects all clustered together, then they could be aphids. You can hit the buds with the back of your hand and they should fall off. Washing the rose down with a spray from the hose will also get rid of them because when they fall to the ground, they are not strong enough to get back up and birds eat them like candy.
If the holes in the leaves look like sharp bit marks, then it is possible that they are beetles. If the holes are on the inside of the leaf are long with soft edges, caterpillars make marks like that when they chew the leaves to eat them. If you could tell me what main city you are close to I could be of more help to you and not just guess.
