It looks like a concrete. Does it have drainage holes?Very important to have proper drainage.Deb,

I decided to email you anyway. Just keep in mind about the drainage holes.If it is a concrete planter maybe you can get your husband or some person that has a drill and drill bit strong enough for concrete.

This time of year I think the smaller mums(perennials) in bright colors are great.But you need something besides those they can be mundane without any companions.Pansies(annuals) are great for fall planting in containers and the larger the flower bloom is the more they will spill over a container.Pansies love cool weather too.The cooler weather the better and they will last longer .Also if you still like more trailing plants use the old standby...Vinca major.These are the ones that really dress up a container.They are a varigated foliage that grows rapidly and long in length and has the trailing habit.For a vertical touch add some small grass like fountain grass in the middle.It did not look real large so you may be getting a lot of color for fall without spending too much$.Hope this helps.
