Question
Hello Jeff -
I have recently purchased a home on a side of a hill.
Now I know the true importance of drainage system.
It looks like I need to regrade the land around the house since the land is pitching down towards the home.  
So I was thinking about removing some of the slope (10 feet from house) and building a small (3 foot) retaining wall.  
Can you point me in the right direction (web site or book) on how to install a retaining wall WITH DRAINAGE.

Because every situation is different, you need to thoroughly research and design your drainage and retaining wall carefully.  Unless you have a lot of experience with it, I suggest at least consulting a local expert (contractor or designer) for advice.  Local governments can also help.  Check out this link for materials
