growing asiatic lillies in Alaska

Question
Hi Tom I have some beautiful asiatic lilies I bought at my local Greenhouse. I live in the Anchorage area in Alaska and need directions on how to plant these in my flower garden and any and all hints you can give me on how to get them to live and grow. Thanks in advance Ann

Answer
Hi Ann,
Thanx for your question.  Asiatic lilies are hardy from zone 3-10 so you are ok.  Plant the bulbs in full sun in a hole about 6-8 inches deep.  I do not believe you have significant drought periods in your area but you should water the plants once a week when there is not regular rain.  Lilies don't require a whole lot of attention.  If you soil is sandy, clayey and is not very rich, place some well-composted manure around the plants as they emerge from the soil.  I hope this helps.
Tom
