Zinnia seeds

Question
How or what do you do to gather seeds from your lower so you can plant them?  After you get the seeds do you do anything special? How long after you gather the seeds do you need to wait to plant them?

Thank you for your response

Answer
Hi Lois,
Thanx for your question.  To save zinnia seeds wait until the flower is completely dry and then remove it from the plant.  The seeds look like grey chips and are found near the center of the flower.  The long petals are not the seeds, the structures at the end are.  Put the seeds in a glass jar and seal it keeping it in a dark, dry, cool place for the winter and then you can plant them in the spring after the last frost when the soil has warmed.

I would wait a week or so after harvesting before attempting to plant them.  I hope this helps.
Tom
