Brugmansia (Angels Trumpet)

Question
My neighbour who does not have a computer asked me to see if I could find out why the leaves on her plant are turning yellow.  We have one and have removed most of the lower leaves to display the blooms, and ours are still green, while she has not.  Could that be the reason?  I live in Trenton Ontario Canada zone 5B

Answer
Hi Jack,
Thanx for your question.  There are a number of reasons the leaves are turning yellow on your neighbor's brugmansia.  Is the plant getting enough water and/or fertilizer?  Brugmansias require lots of water although they shouldn't "stand" in it.  In dry climates in the summer, they should be watered twice a day.  Also, they are heavy feeders that require being fed 2 or 3 times a week with a balanced fertilizer.  Osmocote and other slow-release fertilizers do not release fertilizer fast enough.  Here is a link you might find helpful.

I hope this helps.
