Ivy

Question
Hi, I'm trying to clear a walled border that has been there years and is absolutely smothered in ivy. I've pulled most of it out bit I'm left with all the roots, hundresds of them! Would the best thing to do be to poison it all, I'm worried that I'm going to harm the earth beneath. I need to clear the border compeletely to re plant with flowers, thanks

Answer
Hi Jo,
If you have really dug up the soil and gotten all the roots out you can and there are still some within the wall or too close to it to get, yes, KILL IT OFF.  I would even do 2 sprayings about 7-10 days apart.  Then in about 3-4 weeks you can start to amend the soil with some nutrients and get ready to replant what you'd like.
