Planting perennials

Question
Is it okay to plant perennial seeds now? How long before they bloom? I want to plant many different kinds. I live in Zone 9, southwest B.C. Canada (the rainforest part but near the ocean). Thank you for your help.

Answer
Hi Judy,
Thanx for your question.  June is a good month to plant perennial seed.  Many people start perennial seed indoors up to 10-12 weeks before the last frost.  Start your seeds indoors to coincide setting them outdoors with the last frost.  You will have to let me know what you want to plant before I can give you much more information.  In general, most perenial plants bloom the second year.  Some require 3 or more years before blooming (like iris, lilies, rose, etc.).  I hope this ehlps.
Tom
