planting

Question
Is it ok to plant in the same soil (miracle grow) that I used last year.  I didn't get rid of it (seems like a waste) and do you have to pull just the plant out of the container from the store to get just the roots or can you plant everything including soil that's in the container.

Answer
Sharon, you can use the same soil as last year. However, you should amend the soil every spring with organic matter such as peat or aged manure.

In regard to transplanting, you need to plant the entire root ball. Just squeeze the plastic container slightly wile holding the container upside down. The entire plant and root ball should come out easily. To make sure the root ball stays intact, water the plant thoroughly and let sit for about 10 minutes before transplanting.

I hope this answered your question. Good luck, and have a nice week.

Regards,

Mike
