honeysuckle budding dried flowers?

Question
Hello:
I have a honeysuckly in a container garden. It was lovely and growing last year and then this spring started budding but what comes out are these dried sort of flower things?  Any ideas on what is going on - there are no leaves or anything on the vine just buds and these dried up flower things that come out of them.
Thank you for your help.

Answer
Hi Shannon,
Thanx for your question.  Where are you located?  Why is the honeysuckle being grown in a bucket?  Is the plant in full sun?  It sounds like it's not getting enough water and/or nutrients.  The plant should have leafed out by now.  If the plant is in a pot, it needs to be watered every day and have a hole in the bottom of the pot for good drainage.  Side dress with well-composted manure in spring, early summer and mid summer.  I hope this helps.
Tom
