Wormwood

Question
My wormwood was thriving and then got all grey and dried up at the bottom. Any idea as to why this happened? I cut the "dead" stuff back, because it was detracting from the beauty of my garden. Should I have done that?

Answer
Hi Gina,
Thanx for your question.  Sometimes as the plant gets older the bottom branches will dry up and die.  This shouldn't affect the rest of the plant.  It's okay to cut the dead growth back.  New growth should come out of the remainder of the plant.  Wormwood needs full sun and well-drained soil but also does not want to be completely dried out.  Water once a week when you don't have regular rain.  I hope this helps.
Tom
