phalenopsis with mushy leaves

Question
what is the problem with my phalanopsis ? It's leaves are beginning to get mushy. Could it be too much sun?

Answer
Hello Sheryl,

The cause for mushy leaves on a phalaenopsis is usually due to a bacterial infection rather than too much sun.  If it is a bacterial infection, I'm afraid there is not much you can do to save it.

Indications of too much sunlight is usually indicated by the top surface of a leaf having a burnt or brown area, leaf edges have a reddish tinge, underside of the leaves have a reddish appearance, leaf color no longer appears to be dark green but a lighter shade.

But, if the leaves are just becoming wilty and maybe even wrinkled, this would be caused by the roots having all rotted or the roots had been allowed to become totally dry for an extended time.  Which I'll let you figure out when you unpot it to check.

Hope this has helped.
