phalaenopsis with splitting leaves

Question
My phal has been in my home doing well for 2 yrs. New leaves, roots, putting up stem with new blooms, but within the last month 3 major leaves have split, and another is starting to split. No yellowing. No visible fungus on leaves. I water weekly, with 10-15-10. Planted in medium bark plant mix, so good drainage. Should I be concerned? Thanks for any help.

Answer
There is a product that your local garden center may be familiar with.  It is called "Protek" and it strenghtens the leaves.  If you use it, be sure to follow the directions carefully or your leaves coulds become brittle. I would also cut back on the feeding.  Feed weakly, weekly.  Use 1/4 tsp of plant food per gallon of water.  Clearly this will not help leaves that have already split, but could prevent further splitting in new leaves.
