Cactus with leaves.

Question
Hi I'm 17 and I live in Quebec.  I had a cactus of about 1 meter high.  It was dying because its top part was getting to big for the bottom part.  But I was able to cut a branch and make roots from it.  Now the branch is getting bigger it's about 50cm and it's growing leaves at the top.  And my mom said that in 20 years that cactus has never done that.
What could this mean?
(Might be this type of cactus: http://experts.about.com/q/710/2864468.htm)
It's like an euphorbia ingens but it's thinner.

Answer
Dear Domi,

It sounds like you have a type of Euphorbia; many of themgrow like cactus but have leaves at the top. The behavior is perfectly normal for these types of Euphorbias in growth. It sounds like you are growing it well.

Is it possible for you to send me a picture to:

[email protected]

so I can try to ID it for you?

Thanks and good day to you, Domi,

Jeff
