Dying peace lilly

Question
I have a medium sized peace lily. Its in a very large pot.I water it 2 times a week. It has not had a flower for over 6 months. I cant seem to get it to perk up. It is always drooping and slowly dying.Today I put it in a new pot and noticed some kind of bug larvae moving around and some kind of little balls that I assume was the same larvae, but just smaller. They are yellow in color. Do you think this is what is killing my plant? If so is there anything I can do? And does cutting off the dead help or does it hurt the plant more? than kyou!

Answer
Tasha,

It is in way too big a pot. Peace lillies need to be in a pot not much bigger around than the plant is. They like to be rootbound. They also like to be kept on the dry side. You are way overwatering it. I water my peace lilly once every 10-14 days. You shouldn't water it till it is bone dry. The bugs will disappear if you cut back the water. You are rotting the roots and that's why the bugs are coming. Cutting off dead leaves or flowers will not hurt the plant. Just get it dried out. Good luck.
