Crasula ovata - Jade plant

Question
I have had my jade plant for around 20 years.  It hasn't had a lot of care over the years, gets put outdoors in the summer and given minimal watering over the winter indoors but has never had regular feeding or changes of compost (its rather large). It now has wide, pale, yellowy, washed out looking leaf margins; on some leaves the pale colour takes up most of the leaf.  The newer leaves are a healthier dark green.

It looks like its deficient in something; do you know what should I feed it, how much and when? I'd be greatful for any suggestions.

Answer
Sarah,

I do not reccommend that you repot or try to change the soil at this time. I do reccommend that you fertilize with a water soluable fertilizer such as Miracle Grow or one that says it has micronutrients. Fertilize it at least monthly or use it weekly according to the package instructions.  It may also not be getting enough sun. Leaves can become pale from lack of fertilizer or lack of sun. I reccommend that you try both. Good luck.
