White webby/white fuzzy sappy looking spots spreading over plant

Question
I have a house plant that I received from my mother.  I've had the plant for several years now and now it's growing this webby, sappy white fuzz and it's spreading to my 2 other plants that's next to it.  I wanted to know if this is harmful to us and the plants?  Can I get rid of this problem and what causes this to happen?  And how do I keep it off the plants?  Please help me...... I just want to make sure it's not harmful and what to do......

Answer
Shelva,

I need a bit more information. Is the fuzz on the surface of the soil or on the leaves?  Does it look like little bits of cotton here and there on the plant? Or is it spider webs over the entire plant when you hold them up to the light? What kind of plants are they? How often do you water them? If it is possible for you to take a picture of the plants and this problem please email it to [email protected].

Let me know so I can give you my best advice.

Darlene
