Cottony white substance on my fern

Question
I have a large fern in my office, about 4' tall that has a cottony white substance all over it. It looked like white flies at first, but nothing moves, so I assume it's a fungus. Any idea what it is and what I can do?  I'd be very grateful.

Answer
That is foliar mealy bugs.  The best way to get rid of them is to get a q tip dipped in rubbing alochol.  Touch the q tip to the white stuff and take it off.  Keep doing it until they are gone.  This is the only full proof way to get rid of them.

Happy Growing
Kristina
