i have a robellini palm, in the ground, we live in north fla. the new growth is
covered with a powdery white substance,the palm is about 4 yrs. old, and has
been free of disease,had some freeze damage this winter8

HI John,    Scale insects are easy to control with a soapy cloth or, failing that, a light oil spray. Remember that scale insects will remain on the plant after they die, so you will have to rub them off for aesthetic reasons. To get rid of an existing infestation, use an oil spray I  like 100%pure Neem OIl.. It's usually best to treat the palm again two or three weeks later to kill all larvae that have matured.  kathy
