Crown of Thorns propagation

Question
Hi Will, I have a beautiful crown of thorns plant that was given to me from my pops. It was a clipping from the original plant from his mom's gravesite. I would like to take some cuttings and give them to some friends. How do I properly cut/ repot and keep the cuttings growing?
The plant is healthy happy and I sure would like to share her!

thank you,

halo

Answer
Hi Halo,

To propagate your crown of thorns, take stem tip cuttings that are 2 to 3 inches long. The white milky sap is a skin irritant for some people, so be careful with that.

Let the cuttings heal by leaving them exposed to the air over night.

Put multiple cuttings in a shallow pot filled with 2 to 3 parts peat moss and one part perlite. Keep this potting mix damp by watering it thoroughly whenever the top half-inch feels dry. Provide warm temps (above 70 degrees) and lots of bright, but indirect light until the roots are well established (6 to 8 weeks). Then move them to a sunny windowsill.

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.

If this information has been helpful, please take the time to give me a rating and nomination.
