Tall jade plant problems

Question
Hello,
I am having problems with my jade plant. I have had it for about two years and repotted it about 7 months ago. Everything went fine with that, its had good growth and has been pretty healthy since then.
The problem I am having is that the plant doesnt support itself, it leans over from the weight of its top heavy main branch/trunk. This problem started about 4 or 5 months after i had received the plant, and I had used popsicle sticks and string to kind of support the growing jade plant.
I am getting upset because now even with support my plant finds ways to tip over. Usually it will be okay for a week or two and then I wake up to a jade plant that is laying on its side. I am begining to think I shouldnt support it, and just let it do its own thing and build its own support. But I really love this plant and dont want to kill it by not helping it.
Just for a little more information: The plant has a main trunk that is 12 inches, a side trunk that makes a "Y" about an inch above the soil is 6 inches. and a third trunk is about 2 months old and barely an inch. Also there is signs of two more trunks coming in. I water the plant every 10-15 days depending on how the soil feels (I let it get dry). It is next to a window which gets good morning/early afternoon sun, but no intense direct sunlight.
So what should I do? My plant continues to grow and I dont want to run into similar problems with every trunk that grows. So what is the best remedy for my situation?
 Thanks in advance.

Answer
Chris,

Do not water it until it has been bone dry for 3-5 days.  Mine gets water every 2 weeks this time of year. I have had this problem at times with jades. The answer is a combination of steps you can take. You should move it to where it will get more direct sun and that will help strengthen it. Mine does well sitting in an east window sill. I would not support it but let it go. I would prune any branches that hang down or seem to make it tippy. Pruning it for better shape will not hurt it. I would also look for a heavy ceramic pot that the jade pot would fit into and that will keep it from tipping over. If you have more questions write again. Good luck.
