yukka plant?

Question
I hope you may be able to help a little... I have a huge yukka plant that i thought was really healthy, just this last week one of the three shoots is looking really terrible and all the leaves have turned brown and look like there going to drop off, it has one other really healthy stem.. I understand that this is not a plant that im supposed to be asking about but I thought you may have a little advice PLEASE i dont want it die. Many thanks for any advice you can give. Tori

Answer
Tori,
ALthough this is not my area of expertise, I will give it a shot.  I think you should take the shoot which is still green and repot it by itself.  It really sounds as if something has attacked the other stems to cause them to turn brown.  It could be an insect, virus, even a fungus.  It is really hard to tell if you have not seen anything like a bug or insect.  Also, is it possible that the plant could have been exposed to frost this time of year?  This is kind of an "urgent care" type of answer, but I don't think those three stems are going to make it.  Save the one you can, the green one.  Good luck.
