Florida

Question
I would love to start growing indoor plants in my home in central FL. I am not experienced but love flowering plants. What would you suggest I start with? Would like to start from seed.  Thanks for any suggestions! :) Have a beautiful day!

Answer
Hi Janet,

Plant selection really depends on the available light and that can vary greatly from room to room and form one location to another within any room.

Most flowering plants require lots of light. Some exceptions are peace lilies and African violets.

To be able to help you, I would need to know  more about just where you would place each plant. For example, how many feet from an uncovered window and what direction that window faces. The size of the plant preferred for that location is also important.

I am sorry I cannot give you a simple list of houseplants, but that would be deceptive and unfair to you.

If you are inexperienced with caring for houseplants, then starting them from seed may be a bit more challenging than you are ready for just now.

Regards,
Will Creed
