Selling Plants in Florida

Question
I noticed that you indicated that the only real issue with selling plants was the state taxes and the licenses.  You asked the person to tell you where they lived and you could find out.  I currently live in Tampa Florida which is Hillsborough County.  It would appear that anyone selling even one plant would need a license.  I would like to sell plants to add to my income but it would not be my primary occupation nor would I necessarily have a nursery.

Thanks in advance for any information that you might be able to provide.

Answer
Hi Larry,
Thanx for your question.  Actually, in a state like Florida thre are more issues in selling plants other than taxes or licenses and I apologize but that's the risk we run when we (me) generalize about things.  Florida has a lot of restrictions on plant sales.  Certain plants are not allowed to be propagated or sold in Florida.  I suggest you contact your local County Extension agent who will be able to provide you with guidance.  The link is shown below.  I hope this helps.
Tom
