Lucky Bean (castanospermum)

Question
I bought a lucky bean plant two weeks ago and now the leave are drying out.  What can I do to save this plant?

Answer
Lee,

Lucky bean plant (Castanospermum australe) should be kept in a small pot (no larger than a 4 inch pot) until the soil dries out in 3 days or less. Provide lots of bright indirect light with a few hours of early or late day direct sun by setting it in an east or west window. Allow the top inch of soil to dry to the touch and then water it thoroughly. Fertilize it sparingly at half strength when it is growing vigorously. It prefers temps in the 60-80 degree range.

The bean or nut that it grows from is very toxic so keep it away from pets and small children.

When the soil dries in 3 days or less you need to move it to a 6 " pot, no larger than that. Each time it starts drying out too fast you need to move it to a pot 2 inches larger. This plant will eventually become a large tropical tree.

Right now I suspect it's leaves are drying out because it is in too large a pot, you are overwatering it causing the roots to rot and it is not getting that morning sun.
Follow the instructions above and it may survive. Good luck.
