how to care for a Lucky Bean Plant (HELP!)

Question

The text above is a follow-up to ...

-----Question-----
We just bought a Lucky Bean Plant and would like to know all that we need to know on how to care for it, including transplanting, watering, etc... Thanks in advance for any and all help.
-----Answer-----
Hi Jerry,

Lucky bean plant (Castanospermum australe) should be kept in a small pot until the soil dries out in 3 days or less. Provide lots of bright indirect light with a few hours of early or late day direct sun. Allow the top inch of soil to dry to the touch and then water it thoroughly. Fertilize it sparingly at half strength when it is growing vigorously. It prefers temps in the 60-80 degree range.

The bean or nut that it grows from is very toxic so keep it away from pets and small children.

Thank you for answering. Now the next question is how big of a pot can I transfer too, what type of soil, and what kind of fertilizer. Thank you again for youre help.

Answer
Hi Jerry,

What are you still unclear about? Just let me know and I will try to clear up your confusion.

Hi Jerry,

You haven't told me if you just purchased the seed or if it is already in a pot and if so, how large that pot is. Thus, I cannot tell you what size pot it should be in. A photo emailed to my address below would be a big help.

Don't be in a hurry to move it into a larger pot. Contrary o conventional wisdom, large pots do not make large plants.

When you do pot it, use a standard peat-based potting mix. Wait 3-6 months before fertilizing and then apply it monthly at half strength. The effects of fertilizers are vastly overrated.

Focus on proper light and proper watering. The rest is relatively unimportant
