Lucky Bean

Question
Darlene,
Hi, I have a lucky bean that has doubled in size since I brought it home. Very healthy. Not sure how to repot. Read various advice but no one mentions in the beans are to be exposed when repotted. Any suggestions you can offer would be appreciated.
Thank You,
Candace

Answer
Candace,

Only move it to a pot with a diameter no more than 2 inches larger than the diameter of the current pot or you will throw it into shock. Then bury it at the same depth it is now. If it wants to be deeper the roots will pull it  deeper. But if you bury it deeper you may smother the roots. So leave the bens exposed and it will decide what it wants in the future. This plant can eventually beecome an 8o foot tall tree but it grows very slowly, especially in a pot. You might want to consider eventually moving to the tropics where you can plant it outside in the ground. Good luck.
