potting

Question
Two days ago I potted my Drac Massangeana Cane inside plant. 3 came in a pot and 1 being about 3ft the others 2ft and 1ft. I was wondering do I keep them in the same pot or was it okay to separate them?
Thanks a million
Candice

Answer
The Corn Plant - "Dracaena fragrans Massangeana" to Botanists - is one of the easiest houseplants to grow.  Univ. of Florida Extension Service has prepared a Fact Sheet on this plant you might interesting (http://hort.ifas.ufl.edu/shrubs/DRAFRAA.PDF).

When not in bloom, this plant is a virtual wallflower.  But when it flowers, the fragrance will fill a room.

This is a VERY easy plant to grow.  When anything goes wrong, it is usually caused by an over-affectionate owner who watered it too much or put it in a bright, sunny window.  This plant must not be overwatered.  It must not be over-fed.  And it must not be over-lighted.

One more trick to note for this plant: It has ZERO tolerance for salt.  That means that chemical fertilizers are strictly forbidden; their formulas are almost certainly based on products that will deposit salt in the soil aftetr use.

Back to you.

I see no reason why you shouldn't be able to take a pot of these apart and re-pot each separately, provided you were careful about minimizing any disturbance or damage to the roots.  Even so, it would normally recover and begin anew. Let me know if it doesn't; could be something else, you know
