Plants unknown

Question
I have a great house plant that I got from my aunt that was hers for 25 years, I don't know what it is. It's green, with round like leaves, with scallop edges. Most of the leaves are a med-dark green.  It grows well and you can grow little baby plants from the cut stems.  I would like to know what it is??? HELP

Answer
Dear Karen,

It sounds to me as if you have a Swedish Ivy, which doesn't, as the name implies originate from Sweden and is not an ivy either!  It is so called because it is very popular in Sweden and it grows like an ivy.  The botanical name is Plectranthus australis.

It likes bright light, should be kept moist, will look great in hanging baskets, likes a fertiliser with a high nitrogen content and, as you say, you can propragate it from stem cuttings.

Here's to the next 25 years!!
