white bugs inside palm leaves

Question
Our Palm trees we have in the front yards leaves started to turn brown, when trimming them off I noticed white, spider like tiny bugs in them.  We live on the east coast of fla, we've had the palms for 5 years and this is out first incident of such bugs.  What is a safe effective way to treat the plant?  Thank you for your time:)

Answer
Kelli,

Your palms have spider mites. Since they are outside I would go to my nearest garden center and get a sprayer and a spray that is labeled to treat spider mites. Then apply it according to the package instructions. Or you can ask if they have a systemic insecticide that will work on mites. Then you just water the plant with it and it causes the entire plant to repel the insects.

Good luck!
Darlene
